Description

Maine Domestic Violence in the Workplace Poster

The Maine Domestic Violence in the Workplace Poster provides employees with important information about workplace protections for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The notice explains certain employment rights available to employees and helps workers understand protections provided under Maine law.

Maine law provides eligible employees with reasonable and necessary leave from work when the employee, or the employee's child, parent, or spouse, is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or certain other acts of violence.

Employment Leave for Victims of Violence

Under Maine law, reasonable and necessary leave may be used to prepare for and attend court proceedings, receive or attend necessary medical treatment, or obtain services needed to address a crisis caused by domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.

Maine's employment leave protections apply to public and private employers. Employers should understand their responsibilities and employees should be informed of the workplace protections available to victims of violence.

Maine Domestic Violence Workplace Notice

The Maine Department of Labor provides the Domestic Violence in the Workplace Poster as an optional workplace notice. Although display of this particular poster is optional, Maine law provides employment protections for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
