Portland, Maine Local Minimum Wage Poster
Unlike the other cities with posting changes for 2023, Portland, Maine, is the only city on the East Coast. All other cities mentioned are either within the South West or West Coast. Like almost every other city who changed their labor law postings, Portland, Maine, has published a new minimum wage notice to reflect the new minimum wage within the city, effective January 1st, 2023. The city’s minimum wage has been increased by $1.00 from $13.00/hr to $14.00/hr. An exception to this ruling includes employees who earn more than $175 a month in tips, who then may be paid a lower minimum wage of $7.00/hr (previously $6.50/hr). One interesting caveat for all of this is when an emergency order is in effect within the city, the minimum wage within the city is 150% more than usual.
