Report All Injuries Workplace Safety Poster

Encourage employees to promptly report workplace injuries and illnesses with the Report All Injuries Workplace Safety Poster. This highly visible safety reminder helps reinforce the importance of notifying a supervisor or other designated person when a work-related injury or illness occurs.

Prompt reporting allows employers to respond to injuries, provide appropriate assistance, investigate workplace hazards, and determine whether an incident must be recorded or reported under applicable OSHA requirements.

Why Should Employees Report Workplace Injuries?

Employees should promptly report work-related injuries and illnesses according to their employer's established reporting procedure. Reporting an incident allows the employer to address the immediate situation and identify conditions that may need to be corrected to help prevent similar incidents.

Employees should report workplace injuries even when an injury initially appears minor, because the seriousness of an injury may not always be immediately apparent.

OSHA Employee Injury Reporting Requirements

Under 29 CFR 1904.35, covered employers must establish a reasonable procedure for employees to promptly and accurately report work-related injuries and illnesses. Employers must also inform employees about how to use the reporting procedure.

OSHA also prohibits employers from establishing reporting procedures that would deter or discourage a reasonable employee from accurately reporting a workplace injury or illness.

Employee Reporting vs. Employer Reporting to OSHA

Reporting an injury to an employer is different from an employer reporting a serious incident directly to OSHA. Not every workplace injury must be individually reported to OSHA.

Under 29 CFR 1904.39, employers generally must report a work-related fatality to OSHA within 8 hours. A work-related in-patient hospitalization, amputation, or loss of an eye generally must be reported to OSHA within 24 hours.
