Wyoming: Health and Safety Protection on The Job - Increased Fines

Wyoming has released a revised Health and Safety on the Job Notice which increases many of the penalty amounts for violations. Mandatory penalties for each of the serious violations have now been increased to a maximum of $12,675 and for optional penalties of up to $12,675 for each non-serious violation. Penalties of up to $12,675 are required for each day during which and employer fails to correct a violation beyond the period set for correction in the notice of violation. Also, an employer who willfully and knowingly violates the Act, upon conviction, is to be assessed penalties of no more than $126,749 for each violation. As the federal OSHA penalties adjust each year due to inflation, the Wyoming OSHA fines must also increase annually. The required posting outlines the Wyoming OSHA Act, which provides protections for employees across the state.
