2027 Labor Law Poster Updates (Updated)
What Employers Need to Know
Updated: October 27th, 2026
Employers preparing for 2027 should be aware of numerous minimum wage increases, revised workplace notices, expanded leave requirements, and other mandatory labor law posting changes. Several states have already released their official 2027 notices, while others have announced changes but have not yet published revised posters. Additional federal, state, and local changes may be announced before or during 2027. Labor Law Compliance Center continuously monitors these requirements and will update this information as government agencies release new notices.
January 1, 2027 Labor Law Poster Changes
The following wage and workplace notice changes are scheduled for January 1, 2027. Employers should review each applicable worksite and display the revised notices by the effective date when required.

|---|---|
| Arizona | Minimum wage increases from $15.15 to $15.65 per hour. Local rates may also apply. |
| California | State minimum wage increases from $16.90 to $17.40 per hour. |
| Colorado | Minimum wage increases from $15.16 to $15.71 per hour. Updated COMPS and FAMLI information may also apply. |

| Illinois | The state discrimination notice adds menopause-related protections. |
| Maine | Minimum wage increases to $15.70 per hour, and the tipped cash wage increases to $7.85. |
| Massachusetts | Employers should display the updated Paid Family and Medical Leave Notice containing 2027 program information. |
| Montana | Minimum wage increases to $11.20 per hour. |
| Nevada | Employers should review the revised Safety and Health Protection on the Job Notice and replace previous versions when required. |
| New Jersey | Minimum wage for most employees increases to $16.48 per hour. Different rates apply to certain categories of workers. |
| Ohio | Minimum wage increases to $11.40 per hour for covered employers. |
| Rhode Island | Minimum wage increases to $17.00 per hour. Employers should also watch for updated Unemployment Insurance and Temporary Disability Insurance information. |
| South Dakota | Minimum wage increases to $12.30 per hour, and the tipped cash wage increases to $6.15. |
| Vermont | Minimum Wage increases from $14.42 to $14.91 per hour. |
| Virginia | Minimum wage increases from $12.77 to $13.75 per hour. |
| Washington | Minimum wage increases from $17.13 to $17.73 per hour. Changes to Paid Family and Medical Leave job protections may also require updated notice information. |
Federal Contractor Change Effective January 6, 2027
Beginning January 6, 2027, the minimum wage for workers performing work on or in connection with certain federal contracts covered by Executive Order 13658 increases from $13.65 to $14.05 per hour. The minimum cash wage for covered tipped employees increases from $9.55 to $9.85 per hour. Because this change applies only to qualifying contracts that remain covered by Executive Order 13658, federal contractors should review their contracts and applicable wage determinations before replacing their notices.
Additional Notices to Watch
The federal EEOC Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination Is Illegal poster remains under review for possible revision. Employers should continue displaying the current official version until the EEOC releases a replacement. Employers should also monitor city and county requirements. Local governments may establish separate minimum wages, paid leave requirements, fair scheduling rules, and employee-rights notices that apply in addition to federal and state postings. Soon we will publish a list of city and local changes expected for January 1, 2027.
Preparing Your Workplaces for 2027
Before the new year, employers should:
- Review the posting requirements for every business location.
- Compare currently displayed notices with the latest mandatory versions.
- Confirm each notice’s effective and mandatory posting dates.
- Update payroll systems for new minimum, tipped, youth, and training wages.
- Review leave policies and employee notification requirements.
- Check for applicable city and county postings.
- Provide remote and hybrid employees with appropriate access to workplace notices.
- Review applicable Spanish and other language requirements.
Not every agency revision requires an immediate poster replacement. Employers should determine whether the underlying law changed, whether a revised official notice was issued, and whether the agency requires the new version to be displayed.
